There were quite a few updates at Traeger this week. The president of the MEATER business is retiring at the end of the year. This lines-up with Traeger’s Project Gravity strategy to right-size their business. As part of the strategy, they’re consolidating MEATER into their Utah HQ.
Traeger is also conducting another reduction in force. They plan to reduce $8 million in headcount in Phase 2 of project
gravity in addition to other optimization activities. That brings their total estimated run-rate cost savings to $58 million.
One other Traeger story this week comes from Utah Public Radio. There’s a potential class action lawsuit forming against the grill
brand. It relates to workers at Traeger’s Costco Roadshows contending that they were underpaid.
Woodland Direct has a large online presence selling B2B in the outdoor living space. They also have a giant showroom minutes away from me in metro Detroit. I had the opportunity to take a tour of their facility and see not only the showroom, but also where they create content, and how they support their business. It was impressive to see.
Finally, FIREDISC has
released a more portable version of their leading disco-style cooker. It looks great for camping or cooking away from home because of its versatility.
