I was on the Bite Meat podcast this week, hosted by John Lopez, who those in the Houston area might know from sports radio. We covered quite a few topics including trends and the overall
state of the industry.
Tractor Supply kicked off earnings season this week and reaffirmed their guidance for the year. They saw demand pick up through the later months of Q2 and are seeing that momentum continue in Q3. They also are seeing success from their digital platform in conjunction with their Final Mile delivery service.
Sticking with retail, hardware store consolidation is continuing. There are some buyers out there that are focused on growth
through acquisition. We saw Aubuchon and Helpful Hardware both make acquisitions this month.
Jealous Devil is known for their charcoal, but they have a new product that's designed to make cooking with hardwood easier. They released a new version of Blox, which are logs made from pressed hardwood particles. They're almost like giant wood pellets. They promise a easier, more consistent burn for cooking or even in a fire pit.
Finally, Yoder released a new
accessory for their El Dorado Santa Maria. It's a brasero, which lets you collect hot embers from burning firewood to use for cooking. It's a great accessory to make cooking with a Santa Maria grill easier.
