This week was my monthly appearance on The BBQ Central Show. We spent most of the time talking about the products that stood out at the HPBExpo and new products in general. Make sure to subscribe to the show to stay on
top of the world of barbecue.
Breeo came out with a stand-alone grill last year that makes the open fire cooking experience easier. I reviewed it and was impressed with the quality of the construction. It has their usual thick stainless steel, but I also liked the simple things like stainless steel hardware where every bolt had a flat and locking washer. Beyond the quality, it’s a fun grill to cook on and try to master.
Solo Stove is likely facing quite a
few headwinds with the high tariffs placed on imports from China. WSJ had an article about that, and how it could benefit Breeo, who does most of their manufacturing in the US. It has most of the same information that I’ve covered previously, but it does have a good data point that
Breeo is making $40 million a year in revenue.
Traeger’s CEO, Jeremy Andrus, took $0 in salary and bonus when the company did their IPO in 2021. Instead, he was incentivized with stock awards. With all of the macro pressures, that hasn’t proved to be a good indicator of his leadership of the company. This week he redid his comp plan to what is more inline with market.
Grilla Grills released a new pizza oven this week that is different from others out there.
It’s pellet fueled, but the mechanics are similar to a pellet grill. There’s a pellet hopper that feeds a fire pot in the back corner of the oven. It also has a digital controller that connects to the Grilla app.
Finally, Camp Chef released a new camp stove called Kodiak. It's a two burner stove that has a low profile at only 3.5 inches high. It also has a suitcase style to make it easier to carry around.
